Perfect House, The (2011)

A pair of love birds, let’s call them Mr. and Mrs. Caricature, find a bargain bin dream house and take a tour of their prospective castle with an oversexed estate agent. As we accompany them on the tour and stare at Mrs. Caricature’s buns of steel going up staircases, we are filled in on the house’s history in the form of flashbacks. Turns out that their perfect house is a perfect palace of pain with a history darker than the inside of a chain smoker’s left lung.

Made for an estimated $150,000 and released directly to Facebook in defiance of the established film industry, The Perfect House is torture porn meets hilarious cheesy one-liners. There are very few horror fans that won’t find something to like in this movie. Imagine if The Strangers had a kid with Ricky Gervais and growing up it was molested by Hostel and dropped on its head a lot. If that kid kicked you in the balls, it would be this movie.

Weed whakin’ bitches!

At times The Perfect House is brutally in your face, and at other times you can’t help but laugh at people without eyelids running into wooden 2×4’s. The film is essentially divided into three back stories. All three are described best as slashers, but each has a unique feel to it, the first being the most creepy. An overall b-grade feel pulls the three together, but this is combined with campy comedy, double entendre and morbid humor to form something ultimately unique.

The Perfect House was written by US film director Kris Hulbert and directed by himself and Randy Kent. They don’t disappoint in this joint effort and The Perfect House is worth it for all those with a morbid sense of humour, gore lovers and even just supporters of Indie horror in general. I can recommend the film to anybody looking for an entertaining horror flick a bit different from the usual Hollywood fare.

I give The Perfect House 7 out of 10… and “you silly bitch you should have stabbed him in the neck” in this review. If you want to watch The Perfect House online, you can catch it on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ThePerfectHouseMovie by clicking on “Watch Movie Now!”.
